Terms of Service
Last updated: 30/03/2026
These are the terms on which you can use Keryth. We have written them in plain English because we think you should actually be able to read and understand what you are agreeing to. Where we have to use legal terms, we explain it straight away.
If you have any questions, please email us at hello@keryth.com.
By creating a Keryth account, you are agreeing to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Keryth.

What Keryth is
Keryth is a privacy-first AI writing assistant. It lets you chat with an AI that has read your own documents, sync your writing files securely, and work in multiple languages. All with your content encrypted and your privacy protected.
Keryth is available as a web application at keryth.com, and as a desktop application for Windows, Max, and Linux.
Who can use Keryth
You must be at least 18 years old to use Keryth. By signing up, you confirm that you are 18 or over.
You can use Keryth for any lawful purpose: personal writing, professional writing, commercial projects, whatever you are working on. The only requirement is that your use is legal and does not harm others.
Your account
When you sign up, you create an account with an email address and password. Your are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account.
If you think someone else has access to your account, contact us at security@keryth.com straight away.
Please keep your account details accurate and up to date. If you give us false information, we may suspend or close your account.
Your subscription
The plans
Keryth is a paid subscription service. We currently offer two plans:
Writer: for writers working on shorter projects, with a generous daily allowance.
Novelist: for prolific writers who need unlimited use for their personal and professional writing projects.
Full details of what each plan includes are on out pricing page at keryth.com/pricing.
Payment
Subscriptions are billed annually. You pay once upfront for 12 months of access. Payment is processed by Mollie, our EU-based payment provider. When your subscribe, you are redirected to Mollie’s secure checkout to enter your payment details. We never see your card number or payment method details.
We currently accept major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Pay by Bank through Mollie.
Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each 12-month period. We will email you before your renewal date to remind you. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method for the renewal amount unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Early access pricing
If your subscribed during our early access period, your subscription price is locked in for life — as long as your subscription remains active and your account is in good standing.
The early access price locks works as follow:
If you cancel and resubscribe: the price lock does not carry over. If you cancel your subscription and later decide to resubscribe, you will pay the standard price at the time of resubscribing.
If you upgrade from Writer to Novelist: your early access discount (50%) transfers to the Novelist plan — the discount percentage carries over, not the fixed price. If you upgrade mid-term, we will charge you immediately for the difference between the early access Writer and early access Novelist annual prices, calculated on a pro-rata basis for the time remaining in your current billing period. From your next renewal date onwards, you will be charged the full early access Novelist annual price.
If you downgrade from Novelist to Writer: your early access discount (50%) transfers to the Writer plan. Your downgrade takes effect at your next renewal date — you keep Novelist access until the end of your current paid period.
If your account is terminated for serious breach: you lose the price lock. See the section on termination below.
For subscribers who joined after the early access period, we may adjust our pricing from time to time. We will always give you at least 30 days’ notice before any price change affects your subscription, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period. You keep access to Keryth until the period you have already paid for runs out. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time within a billing period, except as described in the refund section below.
Refunds
We offer a full refund within 14 days of your initial payment, no questions asked. This is in addition to any rights you have under UK consumer law.
After 14 days, payments are non-refundable. If you cancel after 14 days, your subscription continues until the end of the paid period and then stops. You are not charged again.
If there is ever a billing error on our part, we will fix it promptly and refund any amount incorrectly charged.
Your content
It belongs to you
Everything you write, upload, or create using Keryth is yours. We make no claim to ownership of your writing, your files, or your ideas. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property rights from you to us.
Content you are entitled to upload
You may only upload, sync, or share content that you own or have the legal right to use. By uploading content to Keryth you confirm that:
- you own the copyright in that content, or have permission from the copyright holder to upload it
- uploading it does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party
- you have the right to grant us permission to process it as described in these terms and our Privacy Policy
We are not able to monitor or check every file you upload, and we are not responsible for content that infringes third-party rights. However, if a copyright holder notifies us that content you have uploaded infringes their rights, we may remove that content and may suspend or close your account depending on the circumstances.
If you believe content on Keryth infringes your copyright, please contact us at hello@keryth.com with details of the work you believe has been infringed and we will investigate promptly.
Sensitive personal information
Some personal information receives extra protection under data protection law — for example, information about health, religion, political beliefs, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. This is called “special category data” under UK GDPR.
Keryth is a writing tool and we understand that your work may touch on sensitive themes. However, please be aware of the following:
- You must not upload content that contains special category data about identifiable real people (other than yourself) without their explicit consent to that information being processed by an AI service.
- If your content contains special category data about yourself — for example, a memoir discussing your health — by uploading it you are giving us your explicit consent to process that information for the sole purpose of providing the Keryth service to you. We process it for no other purpose.
- We handle all uploaded content with the same encryption and privacy protections described in our Privacy Policy, regardless of whether it contains sensitive information.
If you are working on fiction or creative work that includes sensitive themes but does not contain real, identifiable individuals’ personal data, these restrictions do not apply.
What we do with it
We process your content only to provide the service to you. Specifically:
- We store your files encrypted on our servers.
- We index your content to let the AI assistant search and understand your work.
- We send your queries and relevant document excerpts to our AI model provider to generate responses.
We do not read your content, use it to train AI models, sell it, or share it with anyone other than our AI model provider (and only for the purpose of answering your query). See our privacy policy at keryth.com/privacy-policy for the full details.
Feedback and suggestions
If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions about Keryth, we may use them to improve the service. We will not pay you for feedback, but it also does not give us any rights over your creative work, only over the feedback itself.
What we own
Keryth, its software, design, branding, and all content we create (as opposed to content you create) belong to LBFG Ltd or our licensors. We grant you a licence (permission) to use Keryth while you have an active subscription. This license is:
- Personal: it is for you, not transferable to someone else.
- Non-exclusive: we grand the same licence to all subscribers.
- Revocable: we can end it if you breach these terms.
This licence lets you use Keryth for any lawful purpose. It does not let you copy, reproduce, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit Keryth’s software or design.
What you must not do
Keryth is built for writes. Please use it for that. The following are not allowed:
- Using Keryth to do anything illegal,
- Trying to access other users’ accounts or data,
- Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or copy Keryth’s software,
- Trying to bypass or circumvent our security measures,
- Using automated tools (bots, scrapers, scripts) to extract data from Keryth,
- Uploading malware, viruses, or anything designed to harm our systems or other users,
- Impersonating another person or organisation,
- Using Keryth to harass, threaten, or harm anyone,
- Attempting to resell access to Keryth, without our permission,
- Using Keryth in any way that could damage our reputation or the service.
If you do any of these things, we may suspend or close your account immediately.
Availability and changes to the service
We work hard to keep Keryth available and running well, but we cannot guarantee it will be available 100% of the time. We may need to take Keryth offline occasionally for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. We will try to give you advance notice of planned downtime where possible.
We reserve the right to change, update, or improve Keryth over time. We will always try to make Keryth better, not worse. If we plan to remove a feature that significantly affects your use of the service, we will give you reasonable notice.
Termination
If you want to leave
You can close your account at any time from your account settings. We will delete your data as described in our privacy policy.
If we need to close your account
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You seriously or repeatedly breach these terms,
- You use Keryth for illegal purposes,
- We are required to do so by law.
What counts as serious breach includes (but is not limited to): attempting to access other users’ data, uploading malware, or using Keryth to harass or harm others.
If we terminate your account for serious breach, you lose access to Keryth immediately, you are not entitled to a refund for any remaining subscription period, and if you were an early access subscriber, you lose your locked price.
If we close your account for reasons other than your breach — for example, if we shut down Keryth entirely — we will give you reasonable notice and refund any unused portion of your subscription on a pro-rata basis.
We will not close your account without good reason. If we do close it, we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
After termination
You may not create a new account if your previous account was terminated for breach of these terms.
Our liability to you
What we are responsible for
We are responsible for providing Keryth with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong because of our fault, we will work to fix it.
What we are not responsible for
Under UK law, we cannot exclude liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot be excluded by law
Subject to the above, and to the extent permitted by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable UK law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Keryth is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We are not liable for:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunity
- Loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control (though we take reasonable steps to back up data and prevent data loss)
- Any indirect or consequential losses
We are also not responsible for the content generated by the AI assistant. The AI may occasionally produce inaccurate or unhelpful responses. You should use your own judgement when reviewing AI-generated content, particularly for anything important.
Your responsibility to us
If your breach of these terms causes us loss — for example (but not limited to), because your misuse of Keryth results in a legal claim against us by a third party — you agree to reimburse us for reasonable legal costs and damages directly caused by your breach.
Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. Our privacy policy at keryth.com/privacy-policy explains in full what data we collect, how we use it , and your rights. The privacy policy forms part of these terms.
The short version: your writing stays yours, we encrypt everything, we never sell your data, and we never use your writing to train AI models.
Changes to these terms
If we make significant changes to these terms, we will email you at least 30 days before the changes take effect. You will have the opportunity to cancel your subscription before the new terms apply if you do not agree with them.
Minor changes (such as correcting typo or clarifying a clause without changing its meaning) may be made without advance notice and will be reflected in the updated date at the top.
If you continue to use Keryth after the effective date of updated terms, that counts as acceptance of the new terms.
Resolving disputes
We hope you never have a reason to complain, but if something goes wrong, here is how we handle it
Step1 – Talk to us first. Email hello@keryth.com and explain the problem. We will do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly. Most issues can be sorted this way.
Step 2 – Formal complaint. If we cannot resolve it informally within 30 days, either of us can escalate to formal legal proceedings.
Step 3 – Courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If we cannot resolve a dispute between us, it will be decided by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer based in another country, you may also have the right to bring a claim in the courts of your own country under local consumer protection law. These terms to not take that right away from you.
We do not use binding arbitration to resolve disputes with consumers, You always have the right to go to court.
General
Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between us about Keryth. They replace any previous agreements or representations.
If a clause is unenforceable. If a court decides that any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in force.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right under these terms on one occasion, that does not mean we give up that right for the future.
Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another company — for example, if Keryth is acquired. We will notify you if this happens. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
Force majeure. We are not liable for failures or delays caused by events genuinely outside our reasonable control — such as internet infrastructure failures, natural disasters, or government action.
No partnership. These terms do not create a partnership, employment relationship, or agency between you and us.
Electronic agreements. Agreeing to these terms electronically (by ticking a box or clicking a button) is as legally binding as signing a paper document.
